Klaas arrived in the USA aboard the ship "Hermann" which left Bremen, Germany, and arrived in the port of New York on April 27, 1868. He arrived with his wife, Wopke, and children Taatje, Antje, Abbo, and Gertjedine. Klaas Jr., Johann, Gerden a and Olida were born in the USA. They settled at Bennington, Marshall County, IL.
"In the spring of 1870 Klass and Wopke left Illinois and homesteaded a farm in the Southwest quarter of section 21-10-5, Lancaster Co., NE. The deed was dated October 40, 1883, and was filed in December 21, 1883. NINNEMANN, John Ninnemann, 92, of Emerald, died in Lincoln Wednesday. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Arthur Lostroh of Emerald, and Mrs. Chris Borchers of Pleasant Dale; three sons, William, Carl and John, all of Emerald, 28 grandchildren and 13 gr eat-grandchildren.
